AN AUDIENCE WITH...
So you think you know
me ?!
I was born in EKU Hospital,
Nigeria, on 7th February 1960 and lived with my parents in a town called
Obiaruku. I have two amazing parents - Ken and Ella - a sister called Janet
and a brother Richard. Yes, she's a Nun and he's a Monk (bald too) but both
very good looking - and the proud owner of a 101 year old Grandmother called
Alice. (STOP, I know what you're about to shout... Who the f*** is
Alice??!)
I have been married twice (I must have been ill for a while but I'm better
now). I have three fantastic children, my son Kenneth, daughter Kim and son
Richard who I adore and love with all my heart. A long suffering partner
called Roly, who I love and cherish, who puts up with me and keeps me in
line - also keeps my feet firmly on the ground. He is my inspiration.
We have two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels - one called Eddy and the other
called Red. That's enough about my family tree, because the rest are murderers,
arsonists, vandals and theives.
Here is a pot pourri of stuff for you to peruse and an almanac of where I
am. It's all here for you to see. As we pass through life, we learn a few
tricks - how to duck and dive, it's all part of life's adventure. Here's
a little of where and how the shows come into being...
I was the winner of the Millenium Drag Competition at the City Tavern in
Sunderland, known to the older gay crowd as The Central. After that win,
I thought about putting a show together with a friend. It got off to a very
rocky start and it didn't work out at all, so after much frustration, I asked
Lawrence (the winner of the 1998 competition) if he would like to set up
a Drag Duo called "Glamour & Glitz". He said yes, and after months of
hard work and determination, we put our routines together and formed our
duo.
It
took nearly 3 years to get everything off the ground and running, but with
Lawrence's and my own professional approach, we were able to work our way
to where we are today.
Through hard work and my idea of a Drag Entertainer, Miss Kitty Lit-teur
came to life with her own blend of Kirsch, Camp and Innuendo. The stage is
now becoming a way of life, and as one of the North East's top Drag Queens,
Kitty Lit-teur is a respected name in the often harsh world of Drag
entertainment.
I would like to finish by sharing with you the Kitty Lit-teur
Prayer...
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, and the courage
to change the things I cannot accept; the wisdom to hide the bodies of those
I had to kill today, because they got on my nerves.
Also help me to be careful of the toes I step on today, as they may be connected
to the feet I may have to kiss tomorrow.
Always help me give 100% at work : 12% on Monday, 23% on Tuesday, 40% on
Wednesday, 20% on Thursday, 5% on Friday, with days off on Saturday and
Sunday.
Help me to remember that when I am having a bad day, and it seems that people
are trying to wind me up, it takes forty two muscles to frown, twenty eight
to smile, but only four to extend my arm and smack them in the
mouth... |
